Building a high idle switch for my '97 7.3

Hello, new to FTE, but I did come across an old post here talking about high idle switches and it got me on the path but now I'm not so sure.

Link to old post I'm referencing: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/706681-high-idle-3.html

I have my rheostat up to 5k ohms, wire, and an on/off switch. Do I just splice in the tan and brown wires they were talking about and run my rheostat up to the dash, and then do the same with the IVS?
