Removing pedal assembly and steering column

Removing pedal assembly and steering column
Ever have that problem of not knowing how things come apart until you get them apart?
Trying to get the steering column out. Top, bottom, I don't care. I wanted to play nice with it, so I tried to get the horn button off, and that hasn't happened. Tried to pull the entire thing up, but can't get past the pedals. And for that matter, I need to remove the pedals too. I have the clutch pedal nut off. So ummm... Little help here?

Wolf, I have only taken out the pedals and column with the cab removed from the frame.
I can't tell from your signature or profile what year truck you have (1963 in your profile?) so you may want to mention that for further assistance.
With the cab in place, 48-52 requires you to remove the floor plates (six pieces) and weather seal first. Then the master cylinder needs to come off to get at the pedals.
The 48-52 horn button is just snapped in, you have to gently pry it without breaking the plastic tabs. Then you'll likely need a steering wheel puller - loosen the shaft nut almost all the way but don't take it off. Wiggle the heck out of the wheel and hope it pops loose. Keeping the nut on prevents it from whacking you in the forehead if it breaks free. If it doesn't use the puller. Auto parts stores will rent or loan you one. The horn wire comes out from the bottom. (learned that the hard way)
The steering box is held on by visible bolts - gotta undo the steering connections at the Pitman arm first though.
The pedal assembly (48-52) comes off in one big piece after disconnecting the clutch z-bar. Almost impossible to get the individual pedals off without removing the bracket- you'll see when you get a good look at the fasteners and shaft linkage.
Hope this helps.

Just pulled my steering last week. Took the pit man bolt out and it was on good. Cleaned it really good, soaked the heck out of it with penetrating oil and use an impact wrench. You have to remove the bold completely. Then took the thee mounting bolts that attach the gear box to the frame. It should slide through the frame at that point. As far as the brake and clutch peddle, they should just Lefty Lucy off. The whole unit should then come out as a unit! You will have to be creative when you pull it through the floor board, but trust me, it will come out.

Pitman is off and gear box off of frame. Inspection covers loose, but on pedals. Not sure how pads come off pedals. Pedals eventually have to come off anyhow. The clutch pedal is on the outboard side of the frame, and has a bolt through like the pitman arm. Does that bolt have to come out or just loosen? It doesn't want to come out. And the clutch pedal does not want to come off the shaft. Maybe that bolt has to come out? Of course no room to tap it out.
Thank you for the continuing help!

The pedals should just spin off. I used a big adjustable pliers. Once you remove it and the floor inspection covers the steering column will snake out through the opening. As I said, be patient, but it will come out. My goal is to lift the cab. Then I can get to all the brake and clutch arms.
