Rear gas tank install, and filler ideas
I know, I know there is lots of write ups on the rear gas tank install. So if u are worn out by this sorry.
I have read many write ups on the rear tank install. But I'm looking to put my filler out of the bed area and either in the corner of the bed or in through the bed rail. Like the picture on the bottom
Or through the bumper. I haven't been able to find it now but I did see an F100 where the license plate on the bumper hinged up and the filler was exposed. I would do this if it was possible to completely fill the tank.
So my question is what tank can be used where the filler is on the driver side? Also will the sending unit work with the gauge?
The mustang tank is great because it uses the sending unit that works with the gauge. Also good fit. I could probably run an elbow to the driver side to make it work through the rail too.
I'm just looking for some ideas on what tanks will work besides the Mustang tank. Ones where the filler is already on the driver side. Thanks for your help,
Kenny
Not sure if it matters much but my truck is

You can also use a Blazer/Suburban tank. Gives you 31 gallons and you can do either D or P side exit over the frame rail. Look at Tomahawk's build thread. He gives a great write up and great pictures. This is how I am doing mine as well.

Another option could be to hide the gas cap/filler behind the left tail light.

I recognize that taillight assembly. Since that pic was taken, I have powdercoated the complete assembly and it looks a lot better now. I did have to put a ground wire on it because the taillight was flickering due to bad grounding.
