I hope I am not breaking any rules by sneaking in this question to 4byFord. I was wondering if you know where I can get my hands on a field water bladder say 100 gallons? Something that will fit in the bed of my pick up so I can haul water into a dry camp ground. I am not too far from you. about 70 miles west.

Although this is a late post in the this thread, Im a new member and have a direct answer to your concerns.

I am a DOD contractor and the issue is not just vehicle smog checks, its everything.

We design industrial water treatment systems, and in some applications we need to use water softeners units as pre-treatment. Well in some parts of the state water softener units in commercial applications are banned and thus we can't install them.

With the military, we just learned about this last year when we bid a job on Pendelton and reqauested that JAG give us a termination on state vs. military enviromental law. The outcome was military judicial procedure as it pertains to enviromental issues of a state must meet the state requirements. That was a ruling imposed by congress a few years back. Basically because states like California were tired of dealing with closed base enviromental pollution issues.

Hmm..I was able to register my '79 Bronco in Ft. Knox with no smog check. I'd driven it FROM CA, but I know good and well it doesnt pass smog, and didnt at the time.

We have to get smogged to get our stickers here at Edwards AFB. It's a pain but usually, everyone passes without too much trouble. I have to clean some people's EGR valves a lot but usually witha little tuning, I can get all my buddies to pass.
