Yes, they are right - Edelbrock over Holley. My preference is for carbs that can't leak due to a gasket or other fabric failure.

Welcome home Okiewelder!!!
Have a merry Christmas love that Maverick, wish I had one. I've always thought they'd make a decent little hot rod with the 203 or 289....

Thanks MikeB 88! About 15 years ago l tryed to talk my wife into drag racing. We have 6 boys between us and l told her she could drive the Mav and the boys along with mysef could be the crew. Tryed for a few years before l finally realized it was my dream and not hers.

I gave up working on other peoples hotrods 25 years ago when l found a nice oil field guy that hired me to help him fab and repair his parts he sold. I got paid every day l worked. So much easier then keeping someones car for 6 months or longer to pay the bill they said they would pay before the work started!!!

Merry Christmas!

As for tuning a carb, I'm having a hard time seeing anything being easier than a Carter/Edelbrock. Loosen a screw, swivel a plate, and swap the rod and spring, which determines when and how much enrichment you get. Basically the equivalent to the Holley power valve, which requires removing the bowl, meaning dumping fuel, in order to change. Yeah, that's gotta be easier, cleaner, faster.

I havent tuned anything in years. l have not had a hotrod on the road in as long as l can remimber.
I have a Edelbrock tuning kit somewhere l just need to dig it out.
In my 65 mustang l had a double pumper holley and l remimber changing the jets and trying to read the plugs. I havent even tryed to start that up since 92 or 93
