Checking in! Happy Hollidays! And a headlight question

Hey everyone! I haven't been on in a looonnnng time. For those of you that know me or remember me Howdy! As you may or may not know I crossed over into the 6.0 side a couple years ago and haven't looked back. However I'm not active on the forum anymore mainly because the guys and gals over on that forum are nothing like y'all. I have and always will miss my 7.3 truck and the brotherhood here on this forum. I love my 6.0 and she is serving me well but nothing beats a 7.3 unless your racing lol. Jk.

Anyway since I dropped in I figured I'd reach out to some of you that have upgraded to the 05+ headlights and see what bulbs you all recommend for them. Let me know. Here's pics of my 2007 F350 stock and how it sits today. Take care. And as always thanks in advance.
~Nolan

Good to see you Nolan. Sorry I don't have an answer as I still have my '03 stockers in, but that looks like a nice set up.

One of two options you can pick, both are going to give best and desired outcome.

option one being a set of Sylvania silver stars ( or some name like that, they come in a orange coloured package), option number two doing the wiring harness that connects directly to the battery and provides a relay removing the direct load off of your headlight switch ,I don't have a link and I'm not sure of the harness type your truck will use but make sure it fits your Bulb sockets as it is a plug and play on affair.

granted either of them will work both of them when I said it will be for best results, use it together

Welcome, Nolan. Good to see that you're still truckin'. You've been missed, but a man's gotta do what he's gotta do!

I'm still running my '02 stockers, so can;t really offer any help for you anyway... just couldn't resist saying Hello!

Howdy stranger. I've got the 05 headlights on the wife's 01 and the kid has an 06. The silverstar ultras are an upgrade, but the gay looking spyder LED projector headlights are in a whole nother realm. I personally don't care for the little circles, lines, etc. that come on these new projector headlights, but as far as main headlight beam function goes, the projector LED's are hands down far and above any regular bulb you can put in there.

Spyder LED's:
DOT-compliant, but not DOT-approved
Discussion aside, will I get a ticket?

While they do look a bit strange, do they put out better light?

How do they compare to the LED conversion kits?

Too vauge a question. Technically a cop can write you a ticket for going 55 mph in a 55 mph zone. Doesn't mean the ticket is valid and it can easily get thrown out in court, but it can still be written and you still have to fight it.

DOT doesn't actually approve anything, so nothing is really DOT approved. DOT typically abides by guidelines set forth by the SAE.

It still boils down to, if a cop wants to pull you over, there's a whole list of reasons he can draw from if he wants to.

Yes. Without a doubt or any discussion, they do put out better light than the silverstar ultra bulbs, or the factory bulbs.

No idea really. I put LED bulbs in a 2016 truck. Had to fiddle with it and clock the bulbs to get the right pattern without blinding anyone. The LED bulb replacement is a huge upgrade on the 2016 trucks, but the factory headlights on the 2016's seem worse than they were on the 99-03 models, or the 05-07 upgrades that I've done.

Good to "see" y'all. And thanks for the replies. As for aftermarket being "legal" I'm in commy California where basically anything aftermarket on a vehicle is illegal. So that doesn't matter.

Any suggestions on a brand to look at for the funny looking LED projectors?

Here is a current thread, as of 01-21-17, that might address your question and also be relevant for more info.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...eadlights.html

I am considering purchasing these conversions. Also some good info on bulbs, LEDs, HID's

The builder/converter is Tcm glx Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - View Profile: Tcm glx

Legality is also discussed to an extent.

That's good to hear. The LED projectors work great. I only wish you made them without the funny looking part.

But the wife and kiddo really like them so I guess it appeals to some.
