Msd to distributor wiring

I'm trying to install a MSD ignition street fire box in my 1979 bronco with a 460 swap. The distributor has a magnetic pickup and 3 wires and I've wired the Blk/org wire to the positive on the msd and one of the blk/violet wires to negative and whenever I plug the connector in the red led in the box turns off.

If I try to connect the other blk/violet wire the msd light stays on but the engine will not start.
It's a spectra premium distributor with a part #fd03 and I can't find any information on the right wire to use. any ideas on how to wire this correctly ?

I believe you need to wire yours like the diagram on the top:

The Street Fire series is wired exactly the same according to the instructions I found at the MSD web site.
