I test drove a 150 when I bought my super duty. Impressive power. I prefer the more stable platform of the 250 to tow.

I have had several f150s with 6.2 engines. All were awesome. I had Raptor with an SVC custom tune and it had ALL KINDS OF POWER!! There was no off the line problems and it was VERY responsive.

I owned a 3.5 ecoboost f150.... for just 6 months. What a mega pile of crap - worlds WORST engine. I had the ecoboost misfire/stutter that nearly killed me. I did the intercooler weep hole and put new plugs in it.... and promptly traded it in! It is sad reading all the ecoboost horror stories. It will go down as ford's worst engine ever.

They need to add at least .375" more stroke to the 6.2l.

I think the new Raptor looks nice but there is no way I'd buy a truck with an Ecoboost in it. Especially a truck that looks like the Raptor with bigger tires a big burly look, but sounds like a Honda civic.

Nah, oversquare is super reliable and allows for a higher reving engine. This engine is so oversquare, they must have needed the two spark plugs per cylinder to get consistent combustion across the chamber in a timely manner. The more I learn about this engine, the more I respect it.

The previous modulars can rev plenty high with 5/8" more stroke than bore and have proven they are more than capable of very long service life. The problem with the 6.2l is it makes its power too high in the rpm range, especially the torque. Fine for a lighter vehicle, but in a heavy truck that you want to tow with, it is annoying. There is reason Ford has stuck with the 6.8l in heavy vehicles that are expected to work.

I agree with the annoying, and the 6.2L, but livable.

but I know a guy (Mike) with a 2015 Georgetown, with the v10, he got it new.
he said same thing about the v10... annoying with all the rpm's. with and without a toad.
He never owned a diesel unit.

hard part going used. Finding

super duty without 4x4
.............. without Diesel
.............. without big end trim packages.
.............. without very high mileage ( over 200k )
Newer then 2010.

With a NA gas engine you are going to need some rpm, especially when the loads are heavy and grades are steep. The thing is Ford and the other manufacturers keep dropping displacement and having to rev them higher to get the horsepower numbers they are after. Granted they are somewhat pushed into a wall due to all the BS the government throws at them. Though they don't ever push back on the regs, they bend over and let the consumer pay for it.

I was glad to see that Ford brought the peak torque down to 3800 rpm at 430 lbft in 2017, vs The 2016 MY of 4500 rpm and 405 lbft. Also the consumer needs to understand gearing is everything on a NA motor, and for towing with the 6.2, the 4.30 gear is a superior experience.

With my dads 6.2l SD I can tell the 4.30s make a big difference. Not only when towing but holding 6th longer. The extra engine braking with the 4.30s is nice too. I'm anxious to see what difference the 5 Star tuner makes. His has 11k on it now and close to 10k on the transmission repairs so I think its time for tuning.
