Where to Buy Parts?

Hi Everyone,

I need to replace some parts for my 2002 F250 7.3, and was hoping for input on the best place to buy them. For these parts is OEM necessary or are auto parts stores fine? And is a particular parts store (NAPA, AutoZone, etc.) best?

1. Brake Pads--I want to ensure long life and don't like squeaky brakes

2. Fuel Filter

3. Oil Filter--I usually take my truck to the dealer for oil changes, but a friend offered to do it instead but not sure best filter to get

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

We have two ford's my dad's 2000 f350 7.3 and my 04 f350 with 5.4. we drive different and we both go through brakes, oem Napa autozone advanced auto brands. I just installed autozone gold rotors and max pads and though it's only been a few weeks I absolutely love them. they bite amazing and so far I have no brake fade and ZERO dust and noise.

fuel filter we only install oem Motorcraft

I only use Motorcraft oil and filters in my 5.4, my dad uses Motorcraft oil or Rotella oil BUT only uses Motorcraft oil filter. I just hit 150k onot my 5.4 with zero issues my dad has 190k on his all original 7.3 with zero issues

Where are you located?? Im selling my motorcraft fuel and oil filters I have from my 01 7.3 that I sold a while ago. Three motorcraft fuel filters (filters only) $65 plus shipping and 7 oil filters $65 plus shipping. If you buy both Ill give you an extra fuel filter cap.

You have lots to learn..

many parts are Branded... meaning I or 2 factories.. and 30 brand names.

as for brakes... many squeaky brakes are how the installer installed them.
quick an sloppy, or proper inspection, cleaning, adjusting. assembly....

as for filters... Motorcraft.

as for oil.. hundred choices. and 3 major types.. dino, synthetic or a mix of both.

1. I read good things about Hawk pads. I currently have Wagner Thermo Quiet (from O'Reillys) and have been happy with them.

2. OEM. Don't go to the dealership as it will run you upwards of $70 (or more). I get mine from OEM 7.3L Powerstroke Fuel Filter. Clay has great deals on lots of OEM components. Lots of the 7.3 community gets stuff from him. He's a great guy and very helpful.

3. Motorcraft FL1995 is the most popular choice. I use the Mobil M1-601 personally.

I would definitely recommend OEM for the engine. The 7.3L likes OEM. I've used non-OEM on a couple of occasions in a pinch and those parts did not last long (or fit well).

If you have any 7.3L specific question I recommend posting them in the 1999-2003 7.3L forum. Lot's of people willing to share their knowledge over there.
