cooooooold out there today.hit like -7 last night but i stayed toasty warm under 3 bags.i love this mondoking mattress.
there is a very strange feeling you get, when you know it's so cold that it's dangerous if you were unprepared and you hear the wind bellowing, yet at the same time you know your safe and warm.kinda eerie and odd.i kept reaching down to feel my legs to make sure i wasn't just imagining being warm because with the sound of the wind howling,it plays tricks on your mind.based on the noise you know you should be freezing to death being just in your underwear lol.
last night as i lay there, looking at the reflective emergency blanket i put up under the folding table that my upper body is under,i thought,i wonder if i can line this with 1/2 blue board and have it still be able to fold.

well it wasn't too bad cus i kept my pants down at the end of my mummy bag so in the am i brought them up beside me to warm them up.then i only had to run into the house in the am a few feet lol.while on the road i'll have my -50 coveralls in the tent with me,so i'll just slip into those and be just as or even warmer than under the bags to cook up breakfast, break camp and warm up the car.
oh yes,i slept great.i just listened to the wind before falling asleep but then i was out like a light.
i ordered a liner for my mummy bag and 1 more thick bag for good measure.so since i was comfortable at -10 ish with what i had,i should be good for down to -20 or so, before i throw in thew towel and get a motel room.
of course if i slept inside my -50 coveralls i suppose i could sleep in any temp then but, i think i'll reserve that for emergency only.
since im so finicky about being cold, there's no way i could backpack on a trail in sub zero weather with only 1 mummy bag and a light mat.i would never stay warm enough for that.i must have like 100-150 lbs or so in gear,if not more,to make it comfortable enough for me lol.ill have to watch the weather like a hawk if i attempt sleeping away from the car.even then, those -50 coveralls are coming with me.
