Here is a picture of the driveshaft I have which is for the HD 3 speed and 4 speed. This is what I DON'T need. The one I am looking for should not have a slip joint like this shaft does. It should have a internal 16 spline yoke or if the yoke is removed it will have u-joint eyes on both side with a measurement of 62" from the back side of the front eye to the backside of the rear eye.

I know for a fact that I've got at least one and possibly as many as three of the shafts you're looking for. I only need one for my junk and I'd be happy to make you a real fair deal on an extra. My only problem is that I just had a hernia fixed this morning and it'll be at least two weeks before I'll be released to crawl around in the attic and see what's what. Let me know if you haven't got one scrounged up yet by then and I can see what I've got.

Thank you, I appreciate your offer. If I don't find something in a few weeks I'll let you know.

Doug:

Why not just drive over to Drive Train Specialists in Warren , and have one made. I go there every time, and I get a perfect driveshaft for a reasonable price.

Does anyone have a spare correct 48 - 52 driveshaft with the splined female slip yoke that I need? I am willing to trade the one I have or purchase the correct driveshaft outright. I have tried twice to purchase the driveshaft via the internet and got the wrong shaft both times. You might say I have been "shafted" both times. I need to deal with people who know these trucks and what driveshaft is requires. I appreciate any assistance!

ps. it should be a little over 62" long from u-joint centerline to u-joint centerline.
Doug,
I just had a shaft made at Shaftmasters in Lincoln Park. They were very good and even provided the correct yokes which I did not have.

Pete, would you do me a favor and PM me with the cost of the new shaft at Shaftmasters? I have used them to shorten and balance a couple of shafts but never checked on their pricing for a new one. Thanks.

No luck on my end, it is possible my one truck that had a transmission in it did not have the driveshaft. It was pretty stripped of parts when I got it.

Thanks for checking on it for me. I appreciate your effort! Perhaps Bill will find one this week for me in Pennsylvania. We shall see . . .

Great! The one I need should not have the front slip joint as shown in the picture I posted above. It should have what I consider as a "standard" front internally splined slip yoke. The shaft length as stated in the parts book is 62" from the inside of the u-joint seat on one side to the inside of the u-joint seat on the other side. The diameter of the shaft is 3 1/2".
If this sounds like what you have, please send me an email so we can discuss. I'd certainly appreciate it.

Mine looks like a normal drive shaft what does slip yoke that slides into the tranny just like a C4 most other things problem is is I have a whole bunch of drive shafts and I would need a measurement to know which ones were off the 49 I stripped but I know I have two of them in the garage off of 1949 F100 with 3 speed trans

That is exactly what I'm talking about. Should look like the C4 yoke although it's dimensions/spline count are different.

Will these dimensions (Shaft length is 62" from the inside of the u-joint seat on one side to the inside of the u-joint seat on the other side. The diameter of the shaft is 3 1/2") work? The yoke of course would be attached at one end.

Just to close this thread out, Joel's driveshaft was the correct one and I'm all set now as far as the driveshaft is concerned. Thanks Joel!

I also want to thank all the other FTE'ers who tried to help out.

Thanks all, you guys are the greatest!!
