My Camper Special

I drove this off the lot yesterday after waiting 101 days. Of course, I had to cruze the beach on the way home!

I got to tell you, this is one TALL truck.
For the last 15 years, I drove a 99 Chevy K2500 Crew Cab. I didn’t need steps for it, didn’t think I’d need steps for this one. I was wrong! Those AMP power steps are looking real good, just not in the budget at the moment.

I spec’d this truck out for one purpose, carry a camper and tow my motorcycle trailer. I think it will do the job very nicely!

That payload. Awesome just 200 pounds less than the F-450. Crazy

Love it! Next time it's a 350 or 450 for me!

Wow, I thought we had a great SRW payload at 4478. We got our's with the bed ramps and since that's a factory installed option I'm sure it was taken into account.

We're also planning on getting a TC so we can still trailer our Jeep.

Congrats!

Why is the 450 so low? My F-350 DRW is 5,440.

CGA, that is a nice truck. Congratulations. What axle ratio did you go with on your 6.2?

F-450 is a heavier truck overall. Made for towing heavy not super heavy payloads.

Ford needs to move the F-450 up a class. It is being terribly hobbled by the 14k cap. I find it pointless when it can only tow slightly more than a 350 DRW and can carry less.

The caveat "on paper" needs to be added. It is disappointing that on paper it is only 200lb payload over a srw. But in reality I think we all know better.

Congrats. Looks good at the beach. Huntington?

Same configuration I ordered for our camper, only I like to pull a boat. Slide in campers are just right for Susie and me and I hope you enjoy your rig as well. Already have the Torqlift hold downs, tonneau, Stable Loads, running boards, (for Susie, of course I don't need them LOL), Husky Liners, Gator Back flaps (in 2 days) and a bunch of pent up energy looking to go. And I think back 101 days I had already been waiting over 120 days! And we still don't have a truck!

Rasalas, where did you get your Torklift tie downs from? That's what I want but haven't had the time to call around and see who has them in stock.

Did you actually order the camper package on this truck? If so, shouldn't the front springs be upped 1 level to bring the Front GAWR to 5600 lbs?

It appears that was another case of misinformation, or another stickergate, since mine has the same front axle rating and I have the camper package.

I have always been a fan of e-trailer.com but after three attempts to have them order them I found them at < http://www.hitchsource.com/ > Nice price and very accommodating. I think they had to get them in from the manufacturer but I still had them in 9 days from placing the order.

added: The part number does not show up online for the 2017 but they have it. Call or email and they are glad to help. It is available at Torklift as well. Prices were better at hitchsource.
