Water Separator Left Open and Truck won't start HELP!!!
Sorry about this but i'm really new to diesels and I was hoping you guys could help. So 3 days ago I opened up my water separator to drain it, and forgot to close it. Well I ended up moving the truck out of my driveway and onto the street to get some stuff out of the garage, left it on the curb overnight and then went to start it the next day and it wouldn't start. after the 3rd time of trying to start it, it turned on for about 5 seconds and hasn't started since.
So I left the water separator open for a total of 3 days and now it won't start the only forum I found on this particular thing was this one
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...left-open.html
but I haven't really found anything that matches up with my case in particular.
I've already tried cycling the ignition for 20-30 seconds 6-8 times to try to push the air out of it with no avail. but it seems like the air is getting out, because its pushing so much fuel into that its leaking out from some where in the engine in 2 places. 1 directly above where the engine and trans connect (can't see exactly where) and in another area somewhere about 12 inches towards the passenger side.
It seems to be getting fuel and it sounds like its trying to start but it just keeps cranking. I have no idea what to do or where to go with this Please help!

if you have a 6.4 there is a air bleed fitting on the fuel cooler.
difficulty here is that on a 6.4, fuel lubes the engine mounted fuel pump.
there have been cases of lift pumps failing when run dry.
the main fuel pump on a 6.4 is very sensitive to dry starts
do not try to start it until you can confirm all the air is out of the system.
after you do start it....I would recomend that you check your fuel filters often for metal glitter type particles.
