I had to find the boxes to answer some of your questions. the motor started out as a 68 302 rebuilt to 30 over but all I know about the bottom end is that the guy built it with dual quads and killed himself hot rodding the new motor. I got it with a two barrel and cast iron intake. I have put an Edelbrock 1406 600cfm carb, Edelbrock 2121 289 intake, Edelbrock 2122 cam, edelbrock7820 timing chain, 7820 valve springs and comp cam 7831-16 high energy push rods. Of course with the new Edelbrock 60329 heads pushrods will change. All these components were made to work and was flow tested as a unit to produce power between idle and 5500 . Ill know more when I pull the heads. Oh yea I m running it as a flat tappet hydrolic lifter motor up to now. Thanks for your help and interest.

Hi guys no I don't work with a dead line ,it all depends on health and time. But you can bet your sweet bippy that it will be up as soon as possible, I want to try that lo end torque that should be perfect with my 9" posi and my driving habbits. I still run stock steering and suspension so I have no use for a motor that needs to wind up to 9 or 10 to get horspower. Id kill someone for sure. No this is a cruiser that will see an occasional red light every now and then, when the conditions are safe.

Well after pulling the first head I see this motor has been rebuilt more than once according to the 60 stamped on the piston top. I'm glad its nice and tight and has no wear ridge, because from what I have read 60 over is the max according to some folks and over the max according to others. Any way Ill clean em up and proceed as I don't have much choice in the matter besides it will probably out last me anyway. I do have one question though, does anybody recognize and or know anything about the pistons in this motor brand wise(stock, higher compression lower compression). Any information I can learn about this motor I would appreciate very much. Take care work safe, and above all "ROCK ON"

Definitely not a high compression domed piston , I would guess 9to1 or somewhere in that range with your 194 valves and under 500 lift you should have lots of clearance although checking is never a bad thing . You may want to check your deck height and figure out your compression using your head cc's + deckspace + gasket thickness . If you have large cc heads it may drop your compression .

Thank you Bear. When it comes to engine math or just about anything else for that matter I'm very inexperienced and lost. I appreciate the help.

That looks to be stock replacement cast piston with a dish and 4 valve reliefs. Definitely not a forged piston. Depending on head cc's probably as stated 8.5 to 9.5 to 1 ratio.
