Struck by the hpfp failure.

My hpfp just blew up 2 weeks ago. I'm still waiting to hear if my ford extended warentee will pay for it. What was weird for me was I had a p0087 code thrown about an hour before the p21b0 code. I had a 5sec warning of reduce power, then pull over now message, then it died before I could get over. All service down by ford, 48k miles on my 2011. I'm not happy that the truck left me on the side of the road with the 5th wheel in tow. $800 to tow it as well.

Figures crossed they will fix it.

Has anyone heard of anyone having a second failure? Not sure if I want to keep the truck now or not. Sounds like even the newer trucks are failing as well. I would have thought they would have this fixed by now.

I put 150,000 miles on my 2011 and now have 55,000 miles on a 2015. With a lot of heavy towing. I never had that kind of problem. It's pretty rare and often associated with bad fuel or putting gas or DEF in the fuel tank by accident. Not that you did.

I don't think you will find any examples of trucks doing this a second time. So once repaired, I don't think I would expect it to be high chance of recurring, unless it's your fuel source and you continue using the same source. ( ie Farm Yard storage tank) The problem is that it's a very expensive repair. I feel for your budget if Ford does not cover it.

saw your post in the other thread. Water in the fuel.
Turn in a claim of bad fuel with your insurance and with the gas station.

Warranty is not going to pay.

Was it coincidence you threw both codes close to the same time or were they 'related somehow?

Ouch! I agree with the insurance claim... I keep ALL my fuel receipts in a pouch in the console just waiting for something like this to happen even though I take a fuel sample in a peanut butter jar literally everytime I fuel up just to check for clarity / water..
