Last week I had the oil changed on my 2004 4wd excursion. After driving all day friday and half a day yesterdayI noticed they didnt put the oil filler cap back on.

I went to autozone and advance auto to get a replacement and the caps from both places didnt fit.

I checked the parts numbers n their computers were matched right to my vehicle.

so I had to drive another 8 hours last night with no oil cap.

Nos I am at my brothers house in poquoson virginia. Can anyone tell me why the caps dont fit?

I attached a couple pictures. The tube that comes out of the engine that the cap goes on looks longer on my 6.0 than in parts diagrams or photos Ive seen online Is it aftermarket or something?

 

your cap is not missing, it is broken and still in there. Only the top piece is gone. That is why the new caps will not screw in.
