Keyless entry/doorpad question

Just got an 04 Navigator, and been trying to figure everything out with it.. one place I'm lost is on the door number pad.

I found the factory 5 digit code on the module in the passenger footwell, but it doesnt seem to work.

I can lock all doors from the keypad, and the remote works fine.. just no unlock from the keypad..

Not all numbers light up but the 7/8 and 9/0 are among those that don't and thats how it locks..

Any ideas?

Related, is there any way to get auto unlock when you turn it off? I keep getting around to the back door to get my son out of his car seat and finding the doors locked. On my other cars all door unlock together.

When I first got my Navigator I had the same issue. I solved it by taking apart the keypad and cleaning some corrosion off the contacts for the buttons. After that it all work perfectly.

That's what I expected; how did you get it apart?

You have to take the interior door panel off and reach in to remove a nut or two plus a wire connector if I recall correctly. Once it's out of the door and in your hand the rest become obvious.

Cool thanks.

I'll have to remember that whenever I need to remove the door panel for some reason.. That feature itself doesn't quite warrant the effort of removing a door panel at this point.
