Transmission pan on my 95 F350

Just bought a new pick up- 1995 f350 cclb 7.3 automatic 2 wheel drive 90,000 miles.
I want to put a transmission pan off of a 2000 psd 4x4 for a couple reasons
1. I want a drain plug
2. It's deeper and holds more oil

my questions are

1.do I just need to buy a new filter/pickup for a 2000 4x4 so it will be the right length for the deeper pan?
2. How much more fluid is held in the 4x4 pan?

3. What are some good aftermarket trans cooler brands?

4. What is the best $$ spent towards prolonging my transmission life. I do a lot of towing? BTS valve body?

thanks

invest in a trans temp gauge and a good cooler. The plug is nice but if you cool the fluid properly increased volume isn't needed.

I have the Tru-cool 40k GVW cooler on my truck. I've never seen my transmission above 165 degrees and that was towing a 30' TT up a hill in New Mexico in the summer.

In the winter my transmission gauge doesn't move. It stays pegged at like 80 degrees. I honestly think it's getting too cooled.

i have a drain plug in my pan. It's makes it super nice for draining and refilling the transmission without making a mess.

Maybe a quart more.

TruCool and Hayden come to mind. But if you want the best cooler, get one for a 2003-2010 6.0L truck.

A cooler from a 6.0L truck.

Thank you guys.
I looked at the 6.0 cooler. It looks to be about 8 times the size of the little factory cooler on the truck now. I think the 6.0 cooler will be the route I'll take, it's big enough and I like the idea of ford parts going back on my ford. Where is a good place to buy a NEW 6.0 cooler?
I forgot to say, the other reason I'm putting that pan on is because I have free access to one. My buddy put a deep deraley pan on his 2000. Figured I would put the money into a good cooler rather that a aftermarket deep pan.
Does he need to be concerned about his fluid never warming up? I've read a little, shouldn't there be a by-pass valve, some kind of thermostat or something? Does the 6.0 cooler have a built in valve?

There is no thermostat. There is a cooler bypass, but it doesn't do anything to help warm the trans. The only time the bypass opens is if the cooler circuit gets restricted. If the cooler lines are not kinked and the cooler isn't plugged the bypass will never open.

The 6.0L cooler does not have any type of bypass, valve, or thermostat. It's just a cooler.

kingkong, do your cooler lines still go into the radiator and then to the auxiliary cooler? I would think that would warm the fluid some.

Anybody know if this is a problem we should be concerned about? Running to cool.
Thanks.

love my tru cool. It comes with a thermal bypass but I have read where they can fail and overheat the trans. I didn't use it,my trans sees maybe 125° unloaded yesterday. You do Ron through rad cooler then to tru cool and back to trans.

I've measured it, and it does NOT warm the fluid at all.
