Well, if you go to an aftermarket alloy wheel in a 17", there will be a nats hair clearance near your caliper. I had a set on my '16 and the weights had to be surface mounted, the stick- ons hit the caliper. I worried about grime or grit building in there and creating more rubbing issues. I regretted the 17's every day, down to tire size options. I strongly recommend going to the 18", lot more choices in 10ply, IMO anyway.
OK I like the 18 better. Do you see any problem with the 331 gear ratio. I do tow about 10k pounds and my wife wants a heavier trailer. To change gears I think I have to replace the locker.
