You can also add a large washer for a shim if it only needs a tiny amount to clear.

Motor mount
So when the belt wears and i need to adjust it.... it will go up. Longer belt and eventually it will hit the top of the shroud. Is this the dumbest design ever?
who sells the 52' motor mounts. Seems like they are all the same now. Also, that top pic looks like its missing the hole for the bolt.

Mounts
My mounts are that thickness. Time to adjust belts, i recall that was a major pain. Any tricks you guys have to do it?
QUOTE=Overkill-F1;16743377]Like Tinman52 says, '52 were different from the earlier front motor mounts.
The top rubber mount (between the water pump and the frame bracket) is 1 5/32" thick, Part number 8L-6038-B
The lower mount (under the frame bracket) is part number 8L-6039.

I went through the same thing with my truck. I heard a ticking sound that was the fan touching the shroud.
I bought new mounts as mine were original but, the cause was the new belt I put on. Snugged it up and no more problem. Ross's suggestion.
I used a bar to adjust the belt. I need to make a tool like I saw in another post one day. It was a home built jacking bolt type tool. I never made the tool and I don't have the link.

One of the tools is very simple to make and use. You may have to sign-in to see all the images.

While you do need a bar to adjust the generator belt, the fan can be adjusted by hand. Loosen the two 7/16" fan bolts to give some clearance between the washers and fan bracket, the bracket should move easily. Pull the bracket up by hand until the belt is snug and the fan bracket is touching the generator bracket at the bottom and there is a gap at the top between the fan bracket and the generator bracket. Tighten the two fan bolts and it will tighten the belt as it closes the gap at the top of the fan bracket to generator bracket. You don't want a lot of gap as you can actually get the belt too tight, maybe a 1/16" or a little more.

I have an older Gates catalog (downloaded it online) that show these in their Truck and Bus Green Stripe series.
Remember if you get a belt an inch longer, it will raise the fan half that amount. The Parts CD shows A8AZ-8620-A being the fan belt, at 36.81" long. The one Gates belt shown is a little shorter than that, which may be the problem.
