Let's Play "The Price Is Right - Little Dearborn Edition"
OK folks, the latest batch of items from Little Dearborn is open for bidding. For those not familiar with this outfit, they are a long time source for vintage Ford parts in Minneapolis that is closing its doors soon. Before they do, there are a series of auctions to dispose of decades worth of stuff. Having been successful with an earlier round, I'm ready to sponsor a small contest to amuse us and reward the winners.
The Contest
Between now and 12 pm CT on November 29th, guess the winning bids for three separate lots offered in the Little Dearborn Parts Auction IV event. You can guess on any or each of these lots:
Lot 4099 is described as "1948 - 1952 pickup hydraulic shocks". There appear to be about 45 NOS shocks in original packaging.
Lot 4278 is described as "1953 - 1955 truck inner fender". It appears to be NOS.
Lot 4289 is described as "1951 -1952 truck inner fender". It appears to be NOS.
The tie breaker is Lot 4927 a mixed collection that includes two F6 hood side emblems.
The Rules
One guess per item per FTE member
Whining about incorrect descriptions is cause for immediate disqualification
Closest to final selling price, without going over, wins
Yes, you can win more than once
If you tie and didn't guess on the tie breaker, the earlier guesser wins
My contest, I decide
Inappropriate attempts to sway my decisions are welcomed if accompanied by suitable currency or new 600 x 16 Firestone bias ply tires (I need four)
The Prizes
Winner's choice from these fabulous items:
An original edition of the pocket sized Ford Service Specifications 1949-50 Passenger Cars and F Series Trucks or
The 1954 version of the pocket spec book or
A copy of the May 1956 Ford Times magazine
There it is, guess either in this thread, or by pm.
Enjoy

Having walked through parts of the storage areas, one of the reasons some items remained unsold had to be their functional disorder; New was mixed with used, didn't see much evidence of a location system, and random unrelated stuff seemed to be comingled everywhere.
They do have some remarkable items that simply cannot be found otherwise. The swap meets in the Twin Cities area will be well stocked in 2017, to be sure.

I bid on a few items but I had to remind myself about the 18% fee the auction house gets, plus the state sales tax (how much is that) and then shipping. I sent an email to the auction house about the charge for packing and shipping. I am waiting for a response. Do you know?

This is the second of about six parts auctions to clear the shelves. The sales tax is ~7% and I cannot comment on the pack/ship fees. There are some FTE members in the Cities area and others, like me, a day trip away. I'm hoping to have reason for another ride to MSP based on a couple of lots I have my eye on. I would happily be your sherpa.
Abe, you need to give me your guesses to win the 54 Service Spec booklet.

The results are in. No evidence of massive fraud or anything rigged. We had a more restrained buying crowd - that and the exceptionally poor descriptions for the lots - seemed to keep a lid on the winning bids.
Lot 4099 - About 45 shocks for 48-52 pickups. These went for the bargain price of $30. Someone got a deal. Any no one guessed that low.
Lot 4278 - The 53-55 Inner fender: Our own 53 Tonner (Grant) just about nailed it. The winner paid $55 he guessed $51. Apparently, it takes a frugal local to know the market.
Lot 4280 (typo, my bad) - The 51-52 Inner fender. Ross (ALBUQ F-1) Came in at $64 against a winner of $70
The tie breaker lot, 4927 that included F-6 badges, went for $70
There seemed to be spirited bidding on the radiators - including a few NOS items for 36, 37, and Bonus Built trucks. Anything for Mercs or Lincolns was very active as well. A NOS 49-50 car heater unit - that appeared to be a complete kit, went for $190.
So, I'm off to collect my treasures. I'll be in touch with the winners to distribute the spoils. Next auction should queue up in about 2 weeks, if the pattern holds.
