*On The Hunt For 1935, 1936, Or 1937 Pickup*
Hello,
New to this forum. My wife and I are on the hunt for a street rod. I'm not looking for a project but something that is ready for the road. We plan on going to a lot of local cruise-ins and a little traveling but not to far away. I've been looking for a pickup since the middle of 2016. I've seen a few I would have bought but they were either sold or the ad was old. Seems like a lot of the ads do not have a posting date or even say if it's sold or not. Just a little frustrating to say the least. I built a 55 and 57 Chevy back in the late 70's but all Ford since then. We currently own a 2008 and 2016 Ford Escape. Guess which one I drive. And yes, I've been on Auto Trader, Oodle, Classic Cars, etc.

Well....the hunt is still on. I have been looking on classiccars, craigslist, ebay, oldride, etc. What I have realize is a lot of the ads I see have no posting date or price and when I send a message to the seller I get no response. I feel it must be a very old ad. A lot of the ads look to be an action but I see nowhere to place a bid or even a link to the action. The only place I got a response was on craigslist but it really wasn't what I was looking for. The truck description only told the good things about the truck. I also got a response from a classic car dealer but all he wanted to talk about was how great there inspection service was and how they can assist in the shipping. He sent more pics but never answered my questions. This is all getting a little frustration so I'm going to take a break until the holidays are over and re-think how to go about finding a truck.

I know a guy with a museum in ND who has some beautiful 32-36 pickups. Not sure if he would sell one but he does do a lot of buying, selling and trading. All of them are restored unless he's traded into something else since I was there last. He often has unrestored or project vehicles too. Plus he knows a lot of people, you might give him a call. If there are pics pictures of the grey/black 34, it's a rod. M2 front, 5.0 Cobra and 5 speed. Looks stock except the stance. But like I said, it's worth giving him a call because he knows everyone around that has anything old Ford. He might put you on just what you're looking for.

Well, Christmas is over and I'm off work until the 3rd of January so I have continued the hunt. After looking at countless ads over the past 6 months only to find out they were 1-5 years old or I got no response I have decided to look 99% on Craigslist within a 300 miles radius. At least there is a posting date on Craigslist so I won't be chasing a dead ad. Before I put out around 20 large on a truck I think I really need to see it in person and look it over myself and drive it. Still on the hunt.
Short Story:
I had a fellow at work tell me about his uncle in KY that had a 1936 Ford pickup for sale and was willing to sell it at a good price. I contacted the guy and since it was only about an hour away I drove down and took a look at the truck. As soon as I saw the truck I knew it was not what I was looking for and I had already seen this truck for sale online. The guy shot me a price which was $5000 over the ad he had online. I guess this ole boy didn't think I had already been searching. Not a good way to do business. I guess the moral of my story is be on your toes, do your research, and be aware of scams.
