3 on the tree second gear pops out
Have an issue when the truck is cold, if I shift into 2nd and have my foot off the gas it pops out of gear. This seems to only happen when it's cold and I'm off the gas pedal.....is this a linkage adjustment issue? And if so what is the adjustment process?

If you don't want to do it yourself, you can send it to Van Pelt's for a rebuild. Undoubtedly the best hand at these trannies. According to this page, a typical rebuild, parts and labore, will run you about $750 plus the shipping and any parts that aren't just normal wear items.

StaLube 140 GL-3 is highly recommended. Best deal is thru Amazon,
https://www.amazon.com/CRC-SL24238-G.../dp/B000M8IHI2
Way more than needed but it's hard to find in quarts. The chart below from the manual is in Pints.

Back in the mid 70's, Willard, my 49, as I bought him ran a 56 Nailhead Buick thru the original light duty 3 speed. I had a heavier foot in those days and I got very good at pulling the trans breaking it down and replacing the bad parts with extra used parts that I had. My best time star to finish or "curb to curb" was 2 hours. I used to buy used trans and parts at swap meets to keep the shelf stocked. I finally found and installed a heavy duty 3 speed which ended that exercise!

My F-1's 3-spd did the same thing.
Crate it up, send it to Van Pelt Sales...............he does great work, stands behind what he does. You can purchase a rebuild manual........... but he knows how to get it done.
Also the oil suggested by ALBUQ-1 is the right stuff. Modern oil formulations have additives that damage brass parts within the tranny.
