I'm replacing a front wheel bearing on my 97 f-350 and got stuck on a threaded collar. It seems to be completely round and I can't figure out how to back it off to get to the bearing. Attached is a pic that shows what I'm looking at.

 

No pic. You talking about the nut that requires the special tool?

 

Sorry didn't get to attaching the pic last night. I got the two threaded collars that require the special socket out. This last collar is at the very back and I don't see any snap right or any way of getting it out. It looks like it is threaded on to hold the bearing and the whole assembly in place.

 

The assembly is, from inside to out side-----> adjusting nut----->lock washer------>lock nut.. If it looks like something is behind the adjusting nut, look again. Maybe use two 90 degree seal pics to identify whatever it is or isnt.. Perhaps someone put a flat washer in there; that'd be awful strange tho...

 

Looks like the bearing to me. Get a hold of the rotor and give it good jerk and see if it slides out.
