Thankfully everyone involved are OK... truck can be repaired.

Exactly, it's only parts. Good thing you saw it coming though, could only what might have happened had you not seen it coming. I would guess what ever the person who had the topper on their truck didn't have it secured well or hadn't checked to see if everything was still in place and tight. I have a topper on my one truck and I always check the 6 clamps I have on it once a month to make sure they are still tight and not loose

At least you saw it in time and it was only a fiberglass topper. Truck can be repaired. Glad you are safe.

Years ago I had a full size semi truck tire start bouncing towards me. Was driving towards Baltimore, saw this thing skip the concrete median, and come bouncing towards me. Rate of closure was me going 70 mpg and it was doing 60-70 mpg.

The only thing I had time to do was take my foot off the gas and swerve to avoid it. It bounced off the side of my Honda Civic, and went flying off somewhere. Called to report it in, cops never found anything.

That car was never the same. Glad you are ok.

Almost done with this bull**** called insurance. The body shop called wanting pictures of the damage tool box lid. Lucky I had some. It would seem that the adjuster should have done his job and seen the damage and took his own pictures. Anyway, they wont reimburse him until he sends them a paid invoice from the truck bed dealer. They don't understand that the lid is coming on a piggyback shipping when the next truck body is shipped. I have an account with the bed dealer and will pay when the lid gets here. I wanted them to just reimburse me after I got the lid replaced, but they had to do it their way. Now tomorrow I have to go pay for the lid in advance so the body shop man can get his money. The bed dealer didn't want to be paid up front until the lid arrived undamaged. Oh well, whats another inconvenience gonna hurt.

You mean you need to clamp those caps to the truck!?! You wonder how some people make it through life. Sounds like the story had a good ending. I had to file a lemon law claim on a Durango. It only took 2 years to get through. Got to love the insurance companies!

Merry Christmas to all and me. Finally got through with the insurance dealings. My truck is as good as new, thanks to a great body shop. No one was injured in the accident and it makes for one hell of a story. I learned to not drive in the left lane of the interstate, watch for on coming traffic a little better, and double check anything that could come loose from my load. Thanks for all the support from you guys on this forum, lots of times it helps to talk thing out . Be safe and happy holidays.
