It sounds like you don't want to do the DPF delete. You can replace the muffler and tip, but don't expect to get much sound change or any addtional performance out of it. The DPF is the restriction in the exhaust system, not the muffler.
I'm new to owning a diesel. So I have a question. Can I put an exhaust on my truck if it has the def?
Guessing you want more of that diesel sound. Lot of ppl are surprised by how quiet the diesels are with the DPF stuff in place.
Some will delete the system, there by eliminating the need for DEF, but some believe, and some don't, that this voids the warranty.
Wait until you hit 100k miles then delete it all.
Depending where you live but here in Ca. we smog diesels So if you have smog than you will have to put the DEF system back on the truck. How much work do you think that is. Also you will have to get a tune which is more money
I would not bother. You will not see any benefit unless you delete the DPF and DEF systems.
To tell you the truth if you are doing a bunch of towing you will like the setup. I regen very little with the towing and only need to fill the def at oil change time. I change at 4K intervals.
