200ci in F350, Too weak???
I'm considering buying a '66 f350 dually with a 12ft stake bed. I am not sure what motor it originally came with, but it has a 200ci inline motor that is not original to the truck. It's got a 4 speed trans behind it and I am not sure of the rear gear. The intended use is to haul firewood and sometimes trash or scrap in the stake bed. It does not have to cruise over 45-50 mph. Do you all think it would be too underpowered?

I'll just be keeping an eye out for a similar truck with a big 6 or maybe a 70s truck.

I doubt it's a 200. Probably a 240.
You would have serious issues trying to mate a 200 to the truck transmission for one.

Yes, integral. Block number is c8de-8, that's a 200. I don't know if the trans is original to the truck. I guess the truck is kind of cobbled together by someone who was using whatever they had lying around at some point.. I was just interested because it is cheap, close by, and not ugly.

It's been determined that in fact the engine is a 200 I-6 that was only installed in 1964/83 misc mid-sized cars and 1965/70 Mustangs.
It must have been a PITA mounting the 200 in an F350, due to the fact that 1965/66 F350's used the same mounting system as 1961/64 F100/600's, 1965 F100/250 4WD's and 1966 F250 4WD's.
And, what 4 speed could it have? 1963/64 Econoline's were available with the Dagenham 4 speed that has a distinctive reverse gear whine, but its shift lever is 4-on-the-tree!

Ed, the OP has another thread on this topic in the 1961/66 forum.

Like I said, it's a kinda cobbled together setup I guess. I'm not totally sure on which 4 speed. Unless it's a 3 with the wrong shift ****...? I didn't get to drive it. I just looked at it and chatted with the owner. Apparently he got it as is a while ago and only used it around his fields.
Anyway, I'm not really interested anymore at this point with the info you all have given me. No worries, I'll find something else around. Thanks
