Clutch
Hi I have question I think
Working on a 1950 f47 have the engine in tranny in I hooked it up to a battery just to see the motor turn over
The coupling from the tranny that the driveshaft hooks to,turns withe the engine even when not in gear?
I understand in gear yes, but in neutral. When I depress the clutch it stops turning.
What am I missing.
Thanks

No you are not missing anything or shall I say nothing is wrong. If you connected a drive shaft and rear end, off the ground the wheels may also spin. You could grab the spinning drive shaft and stop it from spinning...if you leave it in neutral. The trans is still spinning and the shaft without gears is enough to move the tail shaft and more...dont try and stop by holding the tail shaft, it hurts.
