6.0L Transmission Cooler install in V10 Ex - Filter?

I was perusing the tech folder as I am getting prepped to do the tranny cooler swap. As I read through the sticky, there is the suggestion of an inline tranny fluid filter to go along with the install of the new cooler.

The sticky is for a 7.3L cooler upgrade, and I am doing the upgrade on my V10.

Has anyone added the inline filter on the gas motor transmission lines?

The tranny is the same for both the PS and Modular trucks, unless I am mistaken, so I don't think there would be an issue.

Any opinions?

Thanks!

Jay

My 6.0 cooler, barbed fittings and hose is sitting on my garage shelf, maybe get to it this coming Spring.........Maybe.

I know that Dave @hav24wheel used to run a remote ATF filter on his V-10 EX. I have plans to add one to mine also when I finally get around to the mod.

Here's how I did my V10. Simple and easy.

But adding the 6.0 cooler adds a little difficulty because of the change is hose size.

Buts it's doable easily too...
Looks something like this when done.

Hi Jay, yes I did Pop's inline filter on my V10. No issues. Let me try to find you some pics.

One nice thing about changing to the 5R110 trans cooler is the tube size is 1/2". The cooler line head pressure is lowered so adding a filter is not an issue. If you add a second cooler and/or filter to the stock V10 setup the cooler line head pressure may get high enough to activate the coolant bypass tube (60PSI). When I installed our 5R110 cooler the hose is changed to 1/2" before the 5R110 cooler, goes thru a flat plate cooler and a filter head before changing back to 3/8" hose for the return. The cooler line head pressure is still not as high as the OEM cooler setup so no problem with the bypass.
