I just bought a 1987 f150 xlt lariat. The fuel gage bounces around on the front tank and will not give me a fuel reading. Anyone know what might be wrong with it? I haven't tried the rear tank yet and am not sure if it has the same issue. Any help would be appreciated.

 

Update, rear tank works but gage reads empty. At least I have a backup if I accidentally run outta gas lol

 

Could be sending unit issue, or a ground issue.
