Can't find the hole!

I wanted to drop my spare & check the pressure & lube the cable before a long trip. Following the instructions in the manual "Fully insert the jack handle through the bumper hole and into the guide tube through the access hole in the rear". Do you insert a square end of the assembled rod through the bumper hole and use the tire wrench as the turning handle as pictured? It goes through the hole but doesn't seem to seat into anything. What am I doing wrong?? Wrong angle maybe?

It's hidden under a cover. One of the plastic things on the back is a cover for the hole.

I opened the keyed cover in the bumper and the rod goes in a long ways but does not seat into a mechanism for turning.

You're probably missing the rather small engagement slot. Peak from underneath to see how far and which direction.

can't see anything from underneath---the rod goes in above the spare tire.

Push on the tool and rotate, it should engage at some point.

Am I correct in inserting the square end of the rod into the bumper or does it need something pointed to engage?

Good find on the video!!

Ok...looks like the 3-piece rod goes in at a slight angle...and not straight in. That is an important detail...

tried it at different angles and crawled underneath to feed it into the cone shaped plastic tube above the spare tire but the end of the crank rod is not engaging the winch mechanism. Not sure if it is plugged or defective.

I just did this last tuesday on my new truck, it sounds like your close. If you look at the lug wrench, you'll see the square key hole, it can only go over the smaller end of the 3 piece rod ends. I ended up only needing to join 2 rods together, the larger end of the square is the one that you insert into the mouth/opening of plastic cone that lead you to the winch mechanism, the smaller end get the wrench that you'll use to lower/raise the tire. You can feel the rod engage by hand, but you'll end up using the wrench to assist with the procedure. Good luck

Tried my tire changing gear, will not engage with the tire hoist, appointment made with the dealer, I can see the square hole in the hoist that the tool is supposed to work with, something is not made right.

Figured it out, I am an idiot, I was trying to put the tool in backwards. I put a camera in the winch receiver and found a square male peg, put tool in the opposite way and it works.
