No cruise. No horn. No factory air bags

I don't have a clock spring. Let's get that out first. 1995 f250 without airbags.

Ok. Cruise don't work. Horn don't work.

At connector c234 - at cruise servo....

Pins 10 - 7 has 12 volts.

Pin 4 - 10 no voltage.

Pin 5 - 10 no voltage with cruise switch off. No voltage with cruise switch on.

I believe something is wrong in the steering wheel / column which isn't allowing cruise nor horn voltages to pass through.

This is a non air bag truck so no clock spring.

There must be something else behind the wheel that does the job of the clock spring... slip rings or ???

Should I pull the steering wheel?

There should still be a clock spring to allow you to turn the wheel and have electrical contact unless it still used the older style pins that worked like brushes. Pull the steering wheel and look.

Gotta be something but only clock springs listed are for air bag tricks

Actually, there was a recent thread about this. There is/was a replacement for non air bag trucks. Seems as though the guy who was looking couldn't find one either & used an air bag CS, but I think he modded it and/or clipped the non-needed lead. Pretty sure it was this year.

All 1992-1997 OBS F-series truck without air bags should be the same as I have two from different years. You may have a bad wheel plug or dirty brushes.
Brushes:

Switches and the plug:

Found this thread with good information. I'll follow the diagnostic steps there later today:

Doesn't sound like the thread you were referring to.

Yeah, I think that was it. We never got a resolution reply on that one. But there could be another thread... Not like there are so few threads on this forum to keep up with in one's brain.

Congratulations on finding it, though. Hope it gives you something to work with & maybe some more response help.

Good luck & keep us apprised regardless.

My nephew has the same problem on his 1995 F350. No cruise and no horn. We haven't really dug into it yet so I will be curious to see what you find out.

Why?

Loosen the nut then grab both sides of the wheel, start pulling towards you. Wiggle back and forth a few times. Boom....done.

Continue removing the nut.

The keyword is LOOSEN the nut on the steering wheel a few turns. Leave it in place. Once the steering wheel is loose, then remove it.

Worked fine for me for over 35 years.

No luck yet. Pulled the wheel and cleaned the pins and slip rings.

Reusing everything I have high resistance on the set button. So that indicates a faulty switch. Now I can't seem to find one.

I've found a part number SW5878 but am unable to locate the switch available anywhere
