1987 E150 Need Brake Warning Lamp circuit Schematic, & Connection Location List
Hey, first Thanks for the info on shift lever ball/**** & it's shift pattern insert! Got 'em! Also had to square away stop, turn, tail, & side marker lamp circuits; all up & working now. Did a front brake rotor replacement also. Reattached a vacuum line to the spherical tank below brake master cylinder, noticed lower hose not present on A/C compressor. Was informed at smog check station of a fuel vapor return line leak & an exhaust leak, & timing I estimate is about 109 degrees retarded. I have a Brake Warning Lamp that doesn't come on; cleaned the contact pads on the plastic circuit trace, checked the traces for continuity, replaced the lamp, found the parking brake switch was broken so replaced it. Really can't go any further w/o the two above-mentioned items, in the header of this post...

It's a notorious POS, as it can come on...and stay on. Some people's "fix" is to disconnect it, by removing its two wire plug.
This switch is the same: 1980/89 F100/350, Bronco & Econoline; misc. 1975/79 Passenger Cars; 1980 Granada/Monarch/Versailles.
It's available from Ford & auto parts stores.

Well I am not real good with using the CD manual or EVTM yet.. This is good practice.. My 1988 Ford CD shop manual is in my laptop at my mothers house. The manual I have on CD here is for my 1985 e150 and not sure it is the same. From what I see on the 1985 manual, the brake warning light is not part of the printed circuit board main connector plug, I am not sure. I have not found a pin diagram yet.
I will try to remember to bring my laptop with the 88 cd inside, home in the next couple of days and can look in there for more information. My EVTM does not appear to have the instrument cluster in it...
Let me know what else i might be able to help you with.
I am not sure how much difference there is in a 58,87, or 88 e150

Sloppy Manual Trans Shifting
Vanvet's back again; this time I need to get the play out of my 1987 E150's 4-speed floor shift Manual trans linkage. It's really a hunt to find the gates; goes into gear just fine once I do find the gate, though. Hydraulic clutch works fine. I read of a nylon plastic bushing being present somewhere in the shifter's linkage, and I also suspect loose bolts where linkage is held to the tranny's side. I also am pretty sure the metal & rubber mount on top of the trans case behind the shifter is ripped, looks like it to me. So a Part Number for the nylon bushing & for the mount are needed. Any other advice is welcome such as other bushings needed, torque info for the bolts attaching the linkage to tranny's side, and an exploded view of the linkage would be a HUGE help! I don't really feel safe when it takes me so long to change gears. 4 speed manual, 4th is Overdrive. (RUG GA trans?)

I'm not personally acquainted with any Ford E-Series of your year that came stock with a four-on-the-floor shift mechanism BUT that doesn't mean they weren't common or available way back then. If this was a Ford-factory installation someone somewhere will have part numbers and perhaps maintenance procedures for the shifter.
I do know Hurst et al all had replacement bushing kits for their shifters, instead of nylon they were bronze or steel. Its very possible one of those manufacturers would have usable parts for your situation.
BTW if you have multiple issues its best to start another thread instead of tacking something new onto an existing thread. In fact there is a sub-forum here on FTE for Ford manual transmissions where a ton of help might be found. Here's the link: Transmission
Hope this helps!
