Need help finding out what engine is in my bronco i just bought ...intake id says ...D4AE-9425-DA....then under that it has ...4A14....the engine block above the starter is DIAE-6015-A2C....any info will help its locked up and need rebiult
It is u15Glgd**** ...it does have 8 bolts on the cover and the mech. Fuel pump has the 2 bolts up an down not side to side
G = Originally came w/a 351M
351C/351M/400 do not have a timing cover per se, just a flat engine cover plate. The fuel pump bolts to the block, its bolt pattern is @ 6 & 12 o'clock.
400 introduced in 1971 cars, the original block casting number prefix was D1AZ
So save to say its a 351m...its locked up so i cant test stroke size
351M introduced in 1975 cars, 1977 F100/350, 1978 Bronco...would not have a 1971 block casting number.
351M probably died (not uncommon, the cyl. heads were very prone to cracking), so someone swapped in a 400 from a car since both engines are pretty much the same except for the stroke.
pull the spark plugs out, this will help when trying to turn it over. pull both valve covers also so you can check for bent pushrods or lifters not moving.
