Hi all,
I recently purchased a Heidts Mustang II front end with the two inch drop spindles from JPL for my '52. I plan on buying a rear leaf spring kit which should lower the rear end around 4" as well (Explorer 8.8). What tire and wheel combinations have any of you used with a similar combination? Do you have any photos? I want to go ahead and buy the tires and wheels so I can roll the chassis with the new 5x4.5 bolt pattern but want to make sure I don't have any clearance issues. Any help would be appreciated.

Finally got the front end installed and purchased some 17x7 american racing wheels. Any suggestions on tire size? Method for figuring out how wide I can go without rubbing? I dont think height is going to be much of an issue.

 

Have you tried the tool on the Midfifty website? You can play around with different backspacing etc. Just bear mind it is set up for 60" axle and not the 59.5" you have. You are further along than me so can't help any more than that. Sorry. I created sizes to aim for with a similar set up to yours but I could not tell you with any certainty whether they will work or not.

 

What size did you end up with? I'm going to buy some used tires so not too committed financially. Does anyone have any photos with sizes we can reference? Thank you for the lead.
