Pro Stop (PepBoys) Brake rotors & Pads - Any good?

I am about to do the brakes on my new Excursion. Its an 2000 V10, we tow but just a trailer with dirt bikes. Maybe 4000 loaded!.

I got a good deal on a set of Pro Stop from pepboys. 4 new rotors, severe duty front pads, and standard rear pads for $233.

Anyone have any issues with them?

was originally looking at a PowerStop OE kit for about the same price...confused myself and thought the Pro Stop was the same thing...So i went and picked it up from PepBoys.

But wondering if I should return it and go Power Stop?

I put powerstop kits on my wife's car 2 years ago I was really happy with them so after about 8 months I put them on my Ex. They were really good for about a year and a half on my wife's car then they developed a bad pedal pulse I was able to clean them up but it only fixed the problem for a week or two. I just replaced then with basic stuff from my local parts store. My Ex didn't last nearly as long before the pedal pulse showed up maybe a year. it's nowhere near as bad but under load it is concerning. I'm going to stick with standard rotors (not dirlled or slotted) and semi metallic pads for all my cars in the future.

OP was asking about Pro Stop not powerstop.
But since you have had an issue with powerstop could you share the details of the issue ? What type of vehicle where they installed on ? And what was the cause of the "pedal pulse" ?

So I ended up returning the PRO Stop to PepBoys and ordered the POWER Stop off Amazon.

It was hard to find any reviews on the Pro Stop, sounds like it is PepBoys House brand, and they are all made in China.

I found a fair amount of good reviews for the Power Stop's on Super Duty's and Ex's. I went with their OE kit, which is not slot & drilled.

I get them on Thursday and will have them on that night or Friday. And will be towing the dirt bikes Saturday. I'll keep things posted and even try to remember to post up in 6 months or so.

I mentioned that power stop simply because that was his alternative.

The power stop were installed on my 2001 Ex and a 2010 fusion. I have no idea why both vehicles developed the pedal pulse. I had them apart multiple times looking for problems and never found any. De-glazing them was a short term fix but it was always back with a couple of weeks. My wife got 75,000 miles from the brakes that came on the car and she didn't even get 25,000 from the power stop.

Did you put a dial indicator on both faces to check for runout and parallel ?
The glazing is typically caused from the heat generated by high spots and will quickly return if the runout is more then about .005 or the faces are not parallel.

New rotors should be Within spec but you still should check them with a dial indicator before installing them and turn them on a lath if required.
A loose wheel bearing can also cause it.

They were fine for a year and a half one one vehicle and a year on the other if it hadn't happened on both I would be looking for other reasons.

I found Powerstop rotors and pads on Amazon for about $300. What do you guys think? I didn't want to start a new thread.
