For those that did the Dana 60 swap?

From the TTB to Dana 60 did the truck sit higher or lower and did the ride comfort improve. What does one need to know about steering alignment ? any issues after the swap?

I just completed my swap. I havent gotten to drive the truck yet but I should say that first off, the dana 60 is much stronger than the 50. as far as ride quality goes, it depends on what springs you go with. I personally got heavier duty springs with the intention of having my snowplow up front. This is going to give me a significantly stiffer ride, but I have heard that using stock 350 springs is a better ride because theyre slightly thinner than the 250 springs since they dont have to accommodate for the lateral load from the "independent" dana 50. for alignment, I am in the process of putting the 350 pitman arm on now. I have heard of some issues people have with the 250 arm, but you can run it.

Truck will sit higher in the front. A lot of people swap the 2" rear block out in the back for the 350 4" rear block to level their trucks back out.

Do NOT reuse your TTB-50 springs with the D60. It will ride like garbage. Splurge on a nice set of new 350 leaf springs. If you can't afford that, at least get some used 350 front leafs.

Steering alignment should be straight forward. I went overkill and ended up building some custom steering that works awesome.

I've had mine in for about 30k miles (i put it in about 8 months ago). I love it. No regrets.

Check out my thread if you want to see some in depth pictures of it. This link will bring you to page three, make sure to check out page four as well.

One of if not the best mod I did. Lifts the front end. Different, simpler steering linkage. Use the 350 springs period and the 350 pittman arm if you have access. I have one but cannot find a puller thin enough to get my 250 arm off and it causes a flat spot in the steering that really sucks a lot.

Alignment is simpler on it as well. ANYTHING that changes the ride height on a dana 50 ttb truck changes the alignment because of how it is attached to the truck. i.e. bushing wear/replacement, spring sag/replacement, etc

If you have the means DO THE DANA 60. I just can't see how one would regret it.

Jacob, all I did to get the pitman arm off was buy an advance auto puller and had my brother grind about 1/8-1/4 of an inch off the top and I was able to get the puller in there. Now, I had to put some elbow grease in to get the arm off, but the puller definitely helped.

That's the only solution I can think of. I was concerned that the puller would break after being ground down but looks like that's the only option and your success is encouraging. Thanks!!
