Replacing valve springs in 4.0 SOHC
I posted this in the Ranger/B-series forum and didn't get any responses, so someone suggest I post here.
I recently picked up a B4000 for a decent price, overall good condition with a few mechanical issues. Had a noise coming from the center of the pass side valve cover that turned out to be a broken valve spring. Did a quick check with a small borescope/inspection camera and valve and piston appear to be okay. I've looked into valve spring compressors that work with the head still on the engine and come up with two that look promising. One is from OTC and the other is from Freedom Racing/Stallion tools. What I would like to know is if anyone has any experience with these tools or has any tips or suggestions on this job or other tools that may work. I'm leaning a little toward the Stallion tool since it appears to be more versatile although more expensive.
Thanks in advance for any input.
