I bought an '08 5.4 new back in 2008. I thought they were very reliable. Other than a throttle body at 15K, the only service in 175K was a set of plugs. Definitely not a dragster, but was a very good engine for me.

I've got a 2011 F350 with the 6.2l V8; very nice engine - no issues with about 86,000 miles. 2011 was the first year with the 6.2.

The 6.2 V8. Most reliable SD you can get. Came out in the 2011+ SD.

I've driven both the 5.4 and the 6.2 as work trucks and the 6.2 is definitely a better engine it has more guts than the 5.4 and should be more than capable though as is the case with both engines I would expect your gas mileage to be decent at best

2011-newer 6.2 V8s are pretty awesome, though nothing wrong with a well taken cared of 5.4 either except for the lack of power. If you're looking at gas motors have you considered the 6.8 V10s? The 05-newer V10s in the trucks with the 5-spd autos are spectacular.

V10 ( 3 valve head is better ) or the 6.2L both proven.

my 6.2 has 146,000 miles. and have seen a few over 200,000 miles.
