Stumble or Misfire in 1997 F-350

I’m a total diesel novice so bear with me.

I recently bought a 1997 F-350 crew cab rwd Dully, the truckhas 175K on it with a 5speed maul trans. The truck had no 5th or R so I got a good deal, I was able tofix that and get it back on the road.

However the truck has a misfire or stumble between 2000 and2500 rpm, it will clear up right away almost like one or two cylinders don’t fire. The truck also has the TS Performance 6position chip in it, this morning I set the chip to the stock tune and thestumble went away.

Any pointer how to diagnose this issue would be helpful, like I said I novice to Diesel trucks but otherwise fairly competent working onstuff.

It's more than likely injector orings but could be the ts chip itself. Check the color of the fuel filter. If it black you will need to do orings if it's normal looking it's something else

Check fuel pressure at idle and at WOT in 3rd, if it drops below 40 then its clean FPR screen, replace FPR spring with newer one and maybe a new fuel pump.

Then injector orings and IPR ring can do this as well.
To rule oout IPR remove IPC and take for a test run and see if better. If oil on IPC plug then it might be leaking by causing false reading.

Mine was doing similar and most is gone now by doing above. I have a new IDM as it only does it when hot out now. in the rain it runs great
