the intake manifold on your engine has one of those coils that sits in there that heats up with engine temp to help control your choke. that is 2 of them circled in the middle, if I see correct. I'm guessing someone reworked your carb at some point, they have no effect if not hooked up to a choke and aren't causing any vacuum loss, so it's just cosmetic. Now the circle around the block on back of intake behind carb is for engine vacuum and usually you have vacuum going to automatic transmission modulator valve on transmission, to control shifts. You also normally have vacuum from there to power brake booster also.
