1977 and down had drum brakes. So it is probably a 78-79. I would remove those 6 inch blocks in the front

Actually, 76-79 had disk brakes. The axle in the pics appears to have the cast c-wedges which would make it a 78-79.

It appears to have extended radius arm brackets. Maybe this is what the OP meant?

There are distinct differences between disk and drum knuckles and the parts that bolt to them. This is the best write-up I could immediately find to explain some of the differences:

B.C. Broncos - 66-77 Early Bronco Front Brakes

Disc brakes introduced in 1976 F100/250 4WD & Bronco. 1959/75 F100/250 4WD & 1966/75 Bronco only available with front drum brakes.

There should be a 7 or 8 digit BOM number stamped on the right and/or left axle tube, post what it is.

The FoMoCo AXLE ID tag located under two of the bolts that retains the inspection cover to the housing, but by now, it could be missing.

Just to be clear, the OP cannot replace his disk knuckle with a drum knuckle and keep disk brakes. The caliper bracket and spindle from the disk setup will not bolt to the drum knuckle due to the different pattern and bore size.

1976 was the first year that Bronco's were available with front disc brakes, ditto F100/250 4WD

Previous years, these vehicles were only available with front/rear drum brakes
