Different year / generic tail pipe

I think I've sorted my y-pipe needs and am now looking for the other end of the exhaust for a 3" SS mandrel bend mail order system for my new 351W install into a '77 F100 2WD.

Any reason something like the Dynomax 54745 2011-14 tailpipe (link takes you to Summit) or a generic truck tailpipe (link take you to Mandrel Bend Solutions) won't work?

I know if it has pre-installed hangers they will almost certainly not work, but I mean just from a viewpoint of it fitting in place reasonably well?

Once I've got the front and back pieces sorted I'll try out a muffler/resonator combo and join them up with some 3" SS tube with a mail order custom offset piece or two if necessary.

Thanks! Engine will be coming home from the speed shop soon.

I've used the magnaflow 15003 on several exhausts with great success. It's a 3" mandrel bent stainless pipe, universal for pickups. Expect to shorten it at the least if not cut/chop/rotate and re-weld it depending on how picky u are about fit.

Stainless is a bitch to cut, you'll need a chop saw, cutoff wheel or special sawzall blade.

Here,s an idea, go to the wrecking yard and get an exhaust off a new truck. Then start cutting and pieacing back together. A little more work but I have done it.

Yes those Dynomax kits will work. If you are welding your exhaust, you can weld new hangers where ever you need them. You do not have to take the factory hangers and and try to fit the kit to them. Fit the kit, weld new hangers and move on to the fun driving part.

Thanks much guys. I know I can count on getting good advice here. I ordered the Dynomax tail pipe today and I'll feed back on how it looks. I have a guy who can do any welding required so I'm heading toward getting the swap started. Next question, for another thread, is whether to swap a 4R70W in for the C-4 while I have the engine out.

Thanks,

Travis
