I've totally had it, just got the trans back in my son's 95 f150 after a total rebuild and it shifts great in all gears till 5th. let out the clutch and it kicks right out of gear!
We recently put a new clutch pressure plate, new flywheel and slave. then put it back together only to have second gear grinding on down shift. Trans out again. complete rebuild kit, all syncros, and also replaced the 3rd gear and slider, impute shaft, and 1/2 and 3/4 shift forks. I've had this thing apart and back together many times, everything seams to be correct, I'm going nuts! The though of pulling it out again is not a happy one.

I have no answer for you I'm afraid....

But you have my respect for taking on the job!

I've had 3 those tranny's in my 89 and they are functional but not what I would call "robust"!!!

I bought a rebuilt "special the first time and it liked to jump out of 3rd gear alot.

When it gave me more trouble I just said to hec with it and got another ,from a good shop for $1400 and it has been great!!!

I know it stinks when you put that much work in something and it still has problems!!!
