Speedometer cable removal from dash

Speedometer cable removal from dash
Stupid question but how do you remove the speedometer cable from the back of the dash cluster in a 1989 F250 with the 5 speed manual transmission? I have the bottom end disconnected and just hanging in the air. I have the dash tore apart and the cable pulled back inside the cab. There is a plastic white clip holding the cable into the back of the dash cluster but I have not been able to get it to release. I don't want to pull too hard and break the darn thing.
Question 2. Will this cable work with the speedometer from a 1964 F250? What I am doing is pulling the engine (460 EFI) and ZF 5 transmission from the 1989 and trying to use them to replace the 292 Y block and 4 speed tranny in a 1964 F250 with a Chassis mounted camper. I found out a couple of months ago that the 292 isn't enough engine for the Camper. It looked as if I was fogging mosquetos after a 150 mile trip pulling a travel trailer. More on that story here. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...per-292-a.html
Back side of the dash. How to release the cable from bracket?????
Both trucks in the shed. 1964 F250 and 1989 F250. 292 Y block and tranny pulled from the camper
Both trucks before the rip and tear started.

Thanks, I really like the camper but the motor wasn't enough to get it around. Top speed was 65 with the pedal flat on the floor headed down hill and with a tail wind. I have the motor and tranny out of both the trucks now so the next step is to see what has to be done to get the 460 and manual tranny into the 64 camper.
Both radiator supports.
My sons 49 Chevy with the 64 camper
