There are two big options with wanting GPS: get a radio with the ability built in or get one that can mirror/use your phone to do the work. The latter option seems to be specific to a certain brand of phone, some work with android, others with apple, none for windows that I have seen. The built in GPS I would want to go with a name brand for the GPS software, magellan or garmin. You have to check the specs to see if it has one of those, or if it uses some off-brand system.

I would look at the Pioneer offerings for something mid-priced, just get the options you want and see which fit your needs. For below that I would think about JVC, but none of those I've looked at had a name brand GPS software suite.

I'm playing with a cheap double din stereo on my bench right now. I wanted one that runs android so I can have the torquePRO app on the screen. This one was 120$ on Amazon and came with GPS built in, wifi, nav software, front and rear cameras, and apps. So far it seems great haven't installed it yet though.

Let us know how that cheap one does. I've always been leery of them due to reports a lot of them had issues with being able to see the screen in the daytime.

Looks like it was eBay on mine, although I'm pretty sure I saw what looked to be identical on Amazon also. I'm painfully cheap so I'll use eBay to save a few bucks sometimes.

Looks like it either went up in price or I was wrong but still fairly cheap at 165$

It does require modification to dash facia. It's thicker than factory so you need to dremel out the hole on the top and bottom a little. No big deal.

If the phone option calls for using something like Google to get you there and
you can't get a signal to get to the internet to reach Google.com to map your
directions then you stuck with only your GPS location I would bet. Most phones don't
hold the mapping data in the phone then use cloud storage. Without network access
you won't have any cloud access to get the mapping data.

That said I would avoid Pioneer head units do to very slow updates to the maps they
install into the head unit. Find a head unit that used Garmin or TomTom.
Garmin is top on my list and that would put you in a Kenwood head unit.

You also might try looking here and read reviews on units.
Car Video & GPS at Crutchfield.com

One other Android based one to keep in mind would be the one from Joying Audio.
One of the members has a thread on it if you want to do more reading.

Also here is one about making changes to the firmware and other types of updates the
Joying head uint.

I think the iGO app on this one has all the map data on it so you don't need wifi or data to nav. That's certainly a plus.

That is a big help because I do like to get off the beaten track sometimes
and getting back is an even bigger plus.

I use iGo exclusively on mine. I got an update SD card from eBay last year. What I like about it is you can go in the files via laptop and change things within the software. You can add maps too. Another plus is I can set full parameters of my combo including weight, height, total length, and vehicle types. The software will than map my route accordingly to avoid things like low bridges (I'm 12'8") or truck restrictions. I also have specs set for bobtail.
Blue tooth is awesome for Pandora and taking calls.
