Anyone have this problem??

Anyone have this problem with the factory welds coming apart at the doors and top? What's a fair piecemeal patch?

Frame is not bent at all and cab mounts are pretty much what you would expect to see on a 20 year old truck. They're cracking a bit, but OK for now. I just can't find another reason. Was gonna try to sand it a bit and dab some JB weld on it. I hate it but whatever it's a truck.

I don't think those are welds. I believe they are joints with seam sealer. I know the one at the top of the cab at the gutter is.

^^^^ That's what I thought. And that seam sealer is famous for drying out right about..... now. Will have to look closer at ours in the daylight.

A-ha! So that's what that white crusty stuff is?? Looks like a new paint job in the near future.

With a possible additive of wax buildup if somebody actually cared for it at some point.

I just replaced my seam seals. If you don't it will rust out under it. requires repaint but get factory color in a can and spray it. it not like you will be up there looking at it from above. bottom one is not seam sealed on the outside..

Did you just scrape it out? Sand the edges and hit it with paint? My truck is a very odd color I don't even know what it's called

Odd? Our '95 Supercab is that color; seems like it was pretty common back in the day. I think we have some original paperwork for the truck; I'll see if it's referenced there.

Where are you located? A color like that might not be seen as much in some parts of the country, like the southwest (similarly, you don't see two-tone tan/brown trucks up here often, unless they've migrated here from the southwest).

My truck is an out of state truck from Michigan. Either the Ford Tech sucks with matching paint, or they just don't know what color it is. Any advice on where that info would be?

Hmm, well I found this page - 1995 Ford Paint Charts and Color Codes - with a bunch of long paint codes. But when I look at the door jamb stickers on our '95s, they're just two digits - 71 for the green Supercab and 41 for the blue regular cab. Dunno if that shines any light....

The fact of the matter is this. If the rod eye male thread was stripped, the the female thread on the bar had damage as well. How much, probably enough to fail again, or bugger up the thread on the new part.
