Air cleaner suggestions for Motorcraft 2100 with HEI

Got me an HEI didtributor. I want to install it but I've heard the stock air cleaner won't clear. Any suggestions of one I could get at a local parts store that would clear my new distributor?

It's a 1970 f250 w/ 360, 2bbl 2100, pcv too

I think I once saw air-cleaner spacers...

Yup... https://www.summitracing.com/search/...filter-spacers

Not recommending the brand, just sayin' spacers are available...

I would have ditched the GM style HEI and put a Dura Spark in the truck, their more reliable.

This is sooo far from the truth. Not to start an arguement, but it has been proven time and time again that the GM style HEI systems are VERY reliable, just as the DS is reliable. Personally I would MUCH rather have a clean engine bay that an additional group of wires running around. With HEI, it's only "1" 12v power source.
Now as for the Air Cleaner, I "think" the raised base 14" will fit. But he drop base will not. I tried that with the large cap DS distributor.

I had typed out a nice response to this but my post got dumped again, so all I'm going to say is I've helped replace several GM HEI modules over the years and only a couple of Dura Spark modules.
HEI dist is to big in dia to fit my 406FE, I have to use a small cap dist.

Before I fell in love with the BUMPSIDE trucks, all I had were Chevys. I have had every year Nova from 62-74, SEVERAL 70-73 Camaros,64-72 Chevelles and more than my fair share of C10-30 trucks....95% of which all had HEI factory installed or converted to....I have HONESTLY had "1" module fail on me...and it was a parts house brand.
In the past 17yrs I have favored FORD trucks, i personally think they are built much better, I have also had SEVERAL AMC Jeep Wagoneers...which use the DS ignition. I have NEVER had a module fail on my Fords, but SEVERAL fail on my Jeeps...kinda strange. But the failures STOPPED when I switched to HEI on the AMC 360.
So all I am saying is they are BOTH VERY reliable systems. Just comes down to personal preference I guess.

Buy a 1 or 1.5 inch spacer for what ever air cleaner floats your boat.....it'll clear just fine with the spacer.

Another option is the Edlebrock triange air cleaner...they are small, ugly and use a foam insert vs paper.

I used an Edelbrock plastic spacer on my stock Ford air cleaner for a while. Had to balance and not overtighten but it worked sort of okay........
