Yep, was driving down the road in the right lane and black vehicle with police lights was ahead of me in the middle lane. He slows until I pass him while I was doing the speed limit. Pulls behind me and follows me for about 1/4 mile. 2 stop lights later flashers come on and I pull over. Violation was smoke puff out of my 2010 diesel was more than 3 seconds. The officer did not understand dpf and regents and handed me a ticket .

Completely stock vehicle with current passing inspection in which emissions is checked.

Driver beware.

One of many reason why I moved from the northeast. Damn socialist states. Don't blame the cops their just doing their job that's instructed to them...GENERATE MONEY. Blood sucking states.

 

You are so right. I was hoping not to get riled up tonight but,,,,too late! Here in California, many municipalities have even outlawed gas leaf blowers in the name of air quality, along with fire places etc. My new John Deere tractor has a DPF filter and catalyst on it, and the list goes on and on. I guess the tree huggers won't be happy until I am towing my 5'er with a prius.

 

Prius is just crazy talk your going to have your own herd of goats.

 

Does that law apply to vehicles registered out of state??

You can get the ticket dismissed but you have to
Go to court.

About 3 years ago I was towing a car back from upstate NY towing a 59 imperial with my excursion.

I had to get on it to enter the highway, well being an old 7.3 it was a bit smoky and i had some other mods but nothing to make it roll coal... Towing a 4,700lb car and trying to get to highway speed takes some work.

Well NYSP saw it and pulled me over stating I had an illegally modified vehicle. He was under the impression I removed the cat... I tried explaining that it never had one and the emissions laws back home in IL.

Long and short is he didn't care, wrote me the ticket and told me I'm more than welcome to take it to court..

That's why I bought a gas truck... less headaches.

 

My first F250 had the old 6.9 diese, unfortunately it had worn valve guides. I had a job in California so I took it down there. Got jammed up in traffic so when I did get spittle speed it smoked blue. Well CHP wrote me a ticket for gross polluter and a cracked windshield.

Prime example of why I don't live in the land of chits and nuts.

 

I am going to have to photo copy something that explains the DPF regen process. i do not believe FORD knows that a vehicle cant smoke for more than 3 seconds in NYC. During regen....im talking minutes and miles not seconds.
