390 Exhaust Manifolds

I am a new user here and found the FE Forum thankfully. I have 66 F100 Short Bed Custom Cab non-step side. It has a 390 and cruiso in it now. I am tossing out the headers so I can have reasonable access to the starter and it doesn't get barbequed by the header pipes. I came across some exhaust manifolds and had them surfaced. The passenger side has a small crack though the port on #2 cylinder. I can't see where it was leaking exhaust but it will in time I am sure. I am going to use it now as I need to have the exhaust system done in order to drive it. Later, down the road, a good one will come along. But for now this truck needs to hit the pavement. Does anyone have a recommendation for exhaust gaskets and what is the torque spec for the bolts? I used some copper gaskets for the headers but don't know it this best for cast iron manifolds. What grade of bolts and washers are best for the manifolds? Thanks for any advice.

My engine gasket kit came with stamped steel gaskets, not a thick sandwich gasket. I don't have torque specs, but try a X tightening pattern starting with cylinders 2&3 or 6&7. Snug them down. Run the engine, When its cold the next day snug them up a little if they need it. With that thin steel gasket the bolt will be either tight or snug or loose. Just telling what I've done in the past. I guess I'm not the total purist. Gaskest set was Felpro.

Grade 5 bolts should be fine, use lockwashers and torque them to 12 - 18 ft. lbs. Try the Fel-Pro comp/steel gaskets like mentioned above, put the steel side facing the manifold.

If you want to add to your exhaust anchor (oops! ) I mean't manifold collection, I've got some due to go to the next world war scrap drive. If you'll pay the shipping, I'll send them. Give me headers anyday on an FE, unless it's in a Stang.
